Izumi Imports - Vehicle Import Policy

1. Purpose


The purpose of this policy is to establish clear and consistent procedures for the importation of vehicles from Japan into Canada. This ensures full compliance with Canadian regulations and Japanese export standards, and to provide customers with a transparent and professional experience.
 


2. Scope


This policy applies to all vehicles imported through Izumi Imports for resale or for clients who have requested a specific vehicle.
 


3. Vehicle Eligibility


Only vehicles 15 years or older from the date of manufacture are eligible for import under Transport Canada’s importation rules.  All imported vehicles must comply with the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) requirements.  Vehicles must be free of structural damage, major rust, and flood history. All auction-grade and inspection information will be provided to clients upon request.

4. Import Process


Client Inquiry or Vehicle Selection.  Clients may inquire about available inventory or request a vehicle to be sourced from Japan.  Upon selection, auction sheets, photos, and vehicle history will be shared.  Deposit & Purchase a minimum $1,000 CAD deposit is required to begin the vehicle search or to hold a vehicle already in stock.  Once a suitable vehicle is found and approved by the client, the remaining purchase amount is invoiced. 

 

5. Export from Japan


The vehicle is purchased, deregistered in Japan, and prepared for export.
Documentation including the export certificate, bill of lading, and translation will be processed.

6. Shipping to Canada


Vehicles are shipped via RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) or container shipping.
Transit time ranges from 8 to 16 weeks, depending on port availability and customs processing.

 

 

7. Arrival and Compliance


Upon arrival in Canada, Izumi Imports handles:
Customs clearance
Payment of duties and taxes
Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) filing
Federal inspection coordination
Optional provincial inspections and registration assistance

 

 

8. Payment Policy


Payments must be made via e-transfer, wire transfer, or certified cheque.
Final balance is due within 5 business days of vehicle purchase.
Failure to pay the balance may result in storage fees or forfeiture of the vehicle and deposit.

 

 

9. Refund and Cancellation Policy


Deposits are non-refundable unless a vehicle cannot be sourced within a mutually agreed timeframe (typically 90 days).  If a purchased vehicle fails inspection before export, a full refund or replacement search will be offered.
 

 

10. Warranties & Liability


All vehicles are sold as-is, with no warranty unless otherwise specified.
Izumi Imports is not liable for delays due to customs, shipping congestion, or natural events.
Clients are responsible for insurance, registration, and any post-arrival maintenance.

 

 

11. Code of Conduct


Izumi Imports commits to ethical sourcing, transparent communication, and full regulatory compliance.
Clients are expected to maintain professional and respectful communication throughout the process.

 

 

12. Compliance

This policy complies with all relevant regulations from:
Transport Canada
CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency)
RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicles)
Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center (JEVIC) if applicable
